Pound Cake Recipe

Pound Cake Recipe
  • 3 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup solid vegetable shortening (such as Crisco)
  • 2 sticks (8 oz/1 cup/226g) butter or margarine (better with real butter)
  • 5 eggs
  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour (sifted)
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 2 tsp. vanilla extract or flavoring
  • 2 tsp. lemon extract or flavoring

Pound Cake Recipe Directions

Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C) and grease a large tube pan. Beat sugar, crisco and butter until fluffy. Add eggs to mixture. Mix in the flour, milk and flavorings. Pour batter in prepared pan and bake for 1 and a half hours. Let cake cool and serve the pound cake.
