Homemade Salsa Recipes

This homemade salsa recipe makes 1 1/2 quarts and will add a zesty homemade salsa flavor to any meal.
  • 10 Roma tomatoes, seeded, small dice (2 cups)
  • 1 small red onion, small dice (1 cup)
  • 2 to 3 small green onions, chopped (1/2 cup)
  • 2 medium jalapeno peppers, seeded and finely chopped (2 tablespoons),
  • 6 Serrano chili peppers, seeded and finely chopped (1/2 cup),
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped fresh cilantro (loosely packed)
  • 3 large cloves garlic, crushed and minced (1 tablespoon)
  • 15 ounce can tomato sauce
  • 4 teaspoons Chile Powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt, or to taste
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice

Homemade Salsa Recipe Directions

Prepare all vegetables above and place in a medium size bowl, gently stirring as each addition is made. Add tomato sauce, Olde Westport Border Bandito's Salsa Spice Blend, salt (to taste) and lime juice. Stir mixture carefully to avoid breaking up the tomatoes. Refrigerate for 1 hour before serving allowing flavors to blend. Enjoy this homemade salsa recipe!!

Chipotle Verde Salsa Recipe


  • 3 medium size tomatillos (husked and washed)
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 3 canned chipotle chiles, seeded
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Chipotle Verde Slasa Recipe Directions:


Preheat a heavy duty skillet over medium heat. Place the tomatillos and the unpeeled garlic cloves directly in the skillet. Cook for about 10 minutes, turning frequently, until tomatillos are soft and blackened in spots. Peel the skin off the garlic cloves. Place garlic cloves, tomatillos, chiles, and salt in a blender with two tablespoons of water. Puree salsa, adding more water if necessary. Serve at room temperature. Add a teaspoon of the sauce from the canned chiles to the blender. Enjoy Chipotle Verde Salsa on grilled meat of your choice.

Avocado Salsa


  • 2 tomatoes, diced
  • 1/2 cup chopped red onions
  • 1/4 avocado cubed
  • 1 green chili pepper, seeded and chopped
  • 2 tablespoon snipped fresh parsley
  • 1 tablespoon red wine vinegar
  • 2 teaspoons grated lime peel
  • 1 teaspoon lime juice
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cumin

Avocado Salsa Recipe Directions:

Combine tomatoes, onions, avocado, peppers, parsley, vinegar, lime peel, juice and cumin. Let stand for 15 minutes before serving. Avocado Salsa recipe makes 6 servings.

Fresh Salsa Recipes


  • 1 ripe mango, peeled, pitted, and diced (about 1 cup)
  • 1/2 medium red onion, finely chopped
  • JalapeƱo chile, minced (include ribs and seeds for a hotter taste if desired)
  • 1 small cucumber, peeled and diced (about 1 cup)
  • 2 Tbsp fresh cilantro leaves, chopped
  • 3 Tbsp fresh lime juice
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Fresh Mango Salsa Directions:

Combine all of the ingredients in a bowl. Season with salt and pepper. Enjoy Fresh Mango Salsa!

Black Bean Fiesta Salsa


  • 1/2 cup olive oil
  • 6 tablespoons fresh lime juice
  • 1/4 cup chopped cilantro
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 4 cups cooked black beans
  • 2 medium red bell peppers diced
  • 1 medium red onion diced
  • 1 1/2 cups cooked corn kernels
  • 1 or 2 jalapeno peppers seeded -- diced ( opt )
  • salt and pepper

Black Bean Salsa Recipe Directions:

In a large bowl mix everything except beans and vegetables. Add beans and vegetables and toss well. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed. Garnish black bean salsa with extra cilantro. Black bean Salsa recipe serves 8.

Summer Salsa



  • 4 ears fresh corn kernels
  • 4 tomatoes, chopped
  • 1 hot yellow banana pepper, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup chopped green bell pepper
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh basil
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh sage
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh thyme
  • 1 lemon, juiced
  • 2 teaspoons olive oil


Summer Salsa Recipe Directions:


In a large bowl, mix together corn kernels, tomatoes, hot yellow banana pepper, garlic, green bell pepper, basil, sage, thyme, lemon juice and olive oil. Cover and chill in the refrigerator at least 1 hour before serving. Then experience the best Summer Salsa you've ever tasted!

Tomato Salsa Recipe

  • 12 Roma tomatoes, oven roasted
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 tablespoon garlic, roasted
  • 3/4 cup cucmber, peeled and seeded, small dice
  • 3/4 cup green pepper, small dice
  • 1/2 cup sundried tomato, chopped (oil packed)
  • 1/2 cup of hot sauce

Tomato Salsa Recipe Directions

To roast tomatoes, roast in oven with olive oil, salt and pepper at 500 F for 40 minutes or until done.
Place tomatoes and roasted garlic in a food processor and puree to a fine slurry.
Combine all ingredients and season with salt and pepper to taste. Hold refrigerated until ready to serve this tasty tomato salsa recipe!
